Seeking –

El Gallo - Male lead, 30-50, baritone, light dancing - Narrator and sometime bandit, El Gallo is by turns the ultimate storyteller and the dashing bandit the Fathers hire to stage The Girl's abduction.

The Mute - Female supporting, 18-25, non-speaking, intense dancing - The Mute is the magic. She assists El Gallo in telling the story, but always seems to be one step ahead.

The Girl, Luisa - Female lead, 16-22, soprano, medium dancing - A spirited and highly imaginative girl who desperately wants romance and adventure. She's in love with Matt and secretly meets him by the fence between their houses, even though she's been forbidden by her Father to talk to him.

The Boy, Matt - Male lead, 18-25, tenor to baritone, light dancing - An idealistic and innocent young man, Matt thinks he's sure of everything in the world. He's in love with Luisa, even though his Father has forbidden him to see her.

Her Father, Bellomy - Male supporting, 40-60, baritone, light dancing - A button merchant and avid gardener, with a romantic streak like his daughter, Bellomy has concocted a fake feud with his neighbor in order to make their children fall in love.

His Father, Hucklebee - Male supporting, 40-60, baritone, light dancing - As and ex-Navy man, Hucklebee is the more practically-minded of the Fathers, but he has his theatrical side, too. He hires El Gallo to help him and Bellomy end the feud by staging an elaborate abduction.
PLEASE NOTE: We are casting for an understudy for this role. The understudy will perform on two separate weekends.

The Old Actor, Henry - Male supporting, 50+, non-singing - Henry is an aging thespian, a little addlepated, but he takes pride in his work. He arrives when El Gallo needs extra actors to stage Luisa's abduction.

The Man Who Dies, Mortimer - Male supporting, 25+, non-singing, physical comedian - Mortimer is Henry's sidekick and apprentice. His specialty is death scenes. He arrives with Henry when El Gallo needs extra actors to stage The Girl's abduction.
